OH has spent the past 4 hours power spraying our new(ish) 'van. It's looking super sparkly, and apart from him managing to water the interior via the skylight(!), all is set for our first ever trip out! Hurrah!

Just two questions:

Should we have some sort of safety cord 'twixt 'van and towbar in case our caravan comes adrift as we're motoring along, and if so, where does one get one from?

And also, the two electric plug in leads that attach to the towbar seem to hang quite close to the ground when attached. Is that normal, and if not, how should I keep them out of the way? I'm worried that if I tape them, they won't be long enough when going round bends etc.

Cheers!

you need a breakaway cable by law cost £3

put a twist in the cables before fitting until they dont touch the floor[:o)]

Hi there,

Yes you need a simple 'breakaway cable' that activates the brakes should the worst happen and you 'van goes astray....all accessory shops sell them for about £2 or i'm sure you'll find one on ebay. Personally I would take up some of the slack on the towing cables as it's not really safe to have them near the floor when towing, but as you say..allow a little slack for cornering etc.
