noticed today that although there is hardly any wear on the tyres and the walls look in good nick there are long cracks in the surface of the tyres between the treads, is this normal or do they need replacing? I don't know how old the tyres are, we've had the van 2 years and they were already on it, but as i've said, they look like they've done hardly any mileage. Also do tyre fitters such as A.T.S stock caravan tyres or would they have to order them in? and roughly what prices are they? what I mean by that is, are they a similar price to car tyres or more expensive?

most tyres have a date on them . they should be no older than 5 years due to perishing . the cracks in the tread are most likely the signs of this so i would sugest get them changed . dont know how much they would be but a tyre dealer should be able to advise you on what you need . on the tyre side wall you will find all the information you need if they are an original tyre fitted from new or equivalent .
hi these are age cracks and you should not use the caravan again until changed.you need 6 or 8 ply tyres, ours last year cost £80 fitted and balanced.i would try somewhere like national tyres.balanced is important as well.age cracks can be on the side walls or the tread.
