Hi, I once asked this question and the response was an absolute "yes" as the gas system needs to be checked, due to the possible movmement when the units being towed, it can be subject to leaks etc.
As for the other items that would bew covere....theres probably nothing there that you couldnt do yourself if yu are relativley mechanically minded. Halfords sell a caravan manual which could be useful for these items.
I wouldnt recommend omitting the gas checks under any circumstances....
