Hi all and especially leanne,

I'm about to start on the front window repair in our 'slightly damp' Elddis van and would like to know some bits about this particular model if anyone can help.

The front window is one that does not open and is held in with a sort of double rubber sealing strip, how does this come out please? Also the front drawers cabinet thingy between the main seating area under the front window does not appear to have any screws inside the van that I can see, how is it held in place?

The front of the van has an integral gas bottle holder compartment but I still can't see any mounting screws except for 1 small screw in the middle on the back wall. There is an aluminium strip that goes across the front of the van which seperates the top window panel from the lower bit with the gas bottle compartment, this aluminium has a vinyl strip along its entire length which I presume has to be removed to get at screws behind it but surely the front plastic (or fibre-glass) panels don't have to be removed to get the drawers inside off do they?

Any advice here will help please!?

I am afriad I dont know that model either but if its the same as the old car windscreens you just pry the inner locking seal out and the pop the window out of the main seal.

a close up photo would help us  if you could arrange one

The low landing photo is indeed a real one and taken in Holland I think. Must be all that flat land, makes them come in long and low!

I've just finished taking the front panel and all the associated screws out. It's immediately obvious that damp has been in this van for a while as a lot of the screws were so rusty that the threads had rusted off altogether! The insides affected appear to be just the 2 corners but it's a strange setup with just the fibre-glass/GRP panels holding the weather off the poly foam packing at the top and and internal wooden structure at the bottom. The pics will tell the tale I hope.

Although our caravan is a Mistral 1992 it sounds like a different layout to yours.  I recently added some completed photos to my website and you can see from those ours has no drawers/cabinet in the centre of the seating (ours has the option of having the seating three different ways).  We found the shelves at the top and the bottom of the windows where both fixed from behind the side panels so they were a pain to remove, but like yours the screws were so rusty we got them out without having to take the sides off.  Also, all our windows are opening ones so can't help on that one either. 

We have just had another fabulous weekend away in ours though, so it's all worth it in the end.
