We have the plastic sticky stuff down, think most dogs like to roll when they come in wet, it really foxes them when they try to roll and slide. Otherwise we too have a little hooover, and to remove the dog hairs a rubber brush does the trick. Bought from pets at home.

We use a little vac, but the biggest contribution to cleanliness in our van is the doormat.  I bought one of those Magimats - the ones they promote at caravan shows.  They also do mail-order, but the P&P prices are bit off-putting.

I did have to bite the bullet paying for it as you do see what appears to be similar but cheaper ones in the shops.  However, it really is brilliant.  After each trip, I wash it in the machine (max 60 deg), tumble-dry it and it's ready for next time.  It grabs all the dirt and wet and it doesn't 'creep' across the floor.  It is way superior to other lookalikes.  I've a B&Q one at home and it is nothing like as good as the Magimat.

I also bought a Turtle mat more recently, but although it is similar, it does creep badly.  I use one in the awning doorway and one in the caravan doorway.

Question in response to ggmad - where did you buy the stick back sheets, we have just bought a second-hand caravan with them in and it is great but could do with replacing eventually.

Our 2005 Avondale Eagle has removable carpets. We keep the small one which is sited by our fixed bed/shower and toilet in place so when we get up in the night we have a warm surface for our tootsies. The main carpet which runs thru' from the lounge to the  kitchen area is now stored in the loft at home. We are happy with the vinyl floor beneath. It is a cinch to sweep and wipe down and when we use the van in winter we just wear our slippers - no hassle! First thing we did with our last van - a 1989 carpeted jobby was to remove the old carpet and lay lino. Looks modern and easy to clean.........
