Last time out in our van, we noticed that the taps in the kitchen and the sink in the bathroom are leaking.

The one in the kitchen looks like it's leaking from underneath the mixer, and in the bathroom it's leaking from underneath the tap itself (leaking into the vanity unit).

They are chrome mixer taps, and our van is a 2000 Herald Clarion (one of the Explorer Group vans).

I've checked the water pipes, and they're all a tight fit, so the leak isn't coming from there.

Are there any seals on the inside of the tap that might have perished?  Or is it a case of replacing the taps?

Thanks!

Yep, frustratingly, they sure do!

I'm not technically-minded when it comes to caravans either, so I haven't a clue how to take them apart either...

I'm sure one of the techys on here will help you.

We had the same problem except ours stopped when the pump was switched off...we had to change the whole taps.

I had the same problem early this year form my kitchen tap on a elddis avante.

Inside the tap there is 2 seals on the tap base that are only kept down by the outer tap body.

Try turning the tap body to compress the seals together but becareful it is plastic and could crack.

You can also check the seals by removing the tap head by carefully lifting the blue and red plastic caps and using a philips to remove the tap lever. Then simply unscrew the body.

If you no not want to pay £30-£40 you can use a non toxic adesive to seal both surfaces together. It will never leak again.

I've just come back from holiday and have had to replace a micro-switch in a tap silmilar to one you describe. This has meant complete removal of the tap (quite a job as the fridge need to come out in our van) then strip the tap to components to feed the micro switch wires through the tap body. There is a mixer body inside the tap housing on which there are several seals. There are two covers on the mixer lever which hide grub screws. The microswitch is held by a small grub screw on one side then a slightly larger screw on the opposite side holds this lever to the tap housing. Once removed there is a cover upon which the lever moves, this unscrews from the housing. Below this there is a ring which locks the mixer body into the tap housing, try tighten this. Bare in mind that I had to take the tap off to do my job but I think you could solve the leaks without removing the the tap. Good luck.
