I have an idea whats wrong but it would help if you could give some more information, such as age of van, make of heater and anything else you can see or hear.

What does it look like and what happens at the control switch when and after the clicking?

Hi Locheetim, have you got plenty of gas left in your cylinder?? I had the same problem, there was gas in the cylinder but it was quite low, so I assume that the pressure ws too low to run the boiler.

Could this be the case Gary??

If you're trying to fire it up on Gas then, on ours,  you have to have the aux switch on on the control panel to allow the gas to ignite. If it's a carver & you're trying to get it going on electric them look at the back end of the heater in the under bed locker, you'll see a little button there, it's the re-set button on ours. Press it in & it "might" do the trick.

Perhaps someone has turned it on by mistake at some time & caused this button to pop out.

Ours played silly b*****rs last weekend.  We had changed the gas and there was an air lock - you should have seen us jump when the air lock cleared .  It could be something as simple as that.

It's a Carver Cascade Mk1 although these were replaced with the Mk2 at the end of 84, anyway as I thought the gas valve is not working and this could be for two common reasons.

As the spark will not stop when the green light starts to flash then the most likely cause is a faulty control switch.

The second possible is the thermal fuse has blown because it has been lit with no water or just overheated but the control switch still has at least a sparking fault.

The next question is how long since it did work?, leaving these heaters dormant for any great length of time turns them into Zoo's!, this means a strip down of the heater to clean out all the little inhabitants.

I have control switches and thermal fuse looms and I can service the whole heater if you want
