I am trying to find a spare water pump as ours in its last legs....however all the water pumps i have seen have a different connection. Mine is round on van and pump, just three pins that push in....hope that makes sense. Does anyone have any ideas where i could get one?

Hi there,

What make/brand is your current one?

Can you post a picture of the connector?

Three pins sounds unusual as there are only +ve and -ve leads.

Can you not use the old plug and fit it to the new water pump leads.

Is this a fitting that has been added by a previous owner?

There are some round 3 pin plugs/sockets that were used in radios

I've got a couple under the bench as I used to use them with 2 pins wired together for battery box connections.

Its difficult to say without a picture.

This is a range of pumps that Towsure do

Cant do pics at the mo camera is dead!...

just been and had a look....right on the van the water inlet is a round connection Two holes for pins and a indent for a circular projection, then the pump itself is a whale 881 (however, its has definatly had some work on the hoses)  at the other end that connects to the van, its just a round plug two pins and a round bit with a black washer on it, that pushes into the van...hope that makes more sense...if I buy a new pump can i connect my old round connector then?.....the newer ones have a square end dont they looks it bit like a white box...is it easy enough to take off and is the wiring the same then?

If I do buy a new pump do they come complete with the hoses the or do i have to buy all the bits? Ta for your help

As far as i am aware pumps just come with bare ends for you to connect the relevant connector, so you should be able to use the old one, if it comes apart.

Ok, right that helps alot....so, with regard the hoses where do i look for them then because, having a look at it now, thats the bit that needs replacing. I think what has happened before is the previous owner has replaced the pump and tried to make good (Crap job) which means that every time the connector is pulled out of the inlet hole it puts strain on the wiring and is working them loose. I need to rebuild the hose bit and enclose the end. Pump seems fine and the push in connection is fine too, its just the hose bit...started to strip it back and it consists of the water hose and the electric cable which have been cable tired together and then tape up with electrical tape, ooh safe! any ideas how to get a diagram on how to rebuild it i a safe way?

You may find it better to install a new socket in the side of the van that is compatible with newer pumps
