Going away in caravan for first time next week and am a tad confused about the fridge !

Fridge has a sign that says Gaz but also has a switch on the front with two voltage numbers.    Does this mean it runs off gas and electric or gas or leisure battery ?

I have a feeling that the man I bought it from said that he had disconnected the pipe at the back of the fridge to keep it safe.  But I can't seem to get to the back of the fridge to check !

Caravan is an Avondale Perle mid 1980's.

Many thanks.

WARNING: Probably have another silly question in the next few hours / days - apologies in advance......

The fridge works off 12V via a relay when attached to the car

It does not work on 12V on site because it uses at least 8 amps and would soon flatten the battery

It works off gas or 230V on site

12V is only in use when towing. It just holds temperature.
If the pipe is disconnected this implies that the gas supply is cut. I would certainly have the pipe reconnected, as I want to be able to camp without EHU. Also sometimes the elctric supply on sites is not sufficient, just too low voltage. In those cases electric is less effective and switching to gas will be more effective.
If the fridge is properly maintained and everything is well sealed the saftey issue is not really there. And when not on gas one closes the gas-tap.

Well it was a small pipe at the back of the fridge accessed through the side panel that he had disconnected for safety  - I hope its that anyway !!
