hi wiz M8.yes i suggested this late last year.there is no reason why it should not work.the problem is the feed.never had fish tanks.i did speak to a man who had.they are 240V transformed to 12V,the good ones also have a thermostat on the top which makes it better.you do not want warm water but you not want it to freeze.you could set it at just above freezing point.the one i was testing got smashed. you could have a two pin plug on the outside of the van.or a cigarette lighter socket. warm water would encourage bacterial groth as well so the water still needs to be cold

Leading on from this I have the carver winterisation kit fitted, and have yet  to spend the winter on site. As this system feeds via the fiter, which is on the outside wall, surly there is a risk of freezing up and damaging the filter housing?

Will the carver heater freeze up if it is left turned on?

no BUT any external water pipes including the waste pipes can freeze up,at an expansion rate of 8 to 1,this can split any pipes wide open.we had waste pipe freeze last march and it was a pig to get it defrosted.we had no damage.[:o)]as a precaution we took the pump in at night, see this we had a insulated cover also for the aquaroll and a pipe cover comes with it.(miscellaneous)

I keep fish. Sounds a good idea. But if you are going to get one, buy the lowest wattage - there is a noticeable difference in price and to keep the water above freezing in an aquaroll, a 50 / 100w one should do it, and they are all thermostat controlled. But remember the feed pipes to the van would need lagging at least? ....

The last 2 I have bought have been from ebay, you should get a cheap s/h one there ...

Try this link  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ELITE-100-WATT-SUBMERSIBLE-FISH-TANK-AQUARIUM-HEATER_W0QQitemZ220025037333QQihZ012QQcategoryZ20758QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

if it works. Or search for fish tank heater..

Ian
