I am really hoping someone can help me.  We recently bought a caravan and it has been working fine but recently the water heater has a mind of its own.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. Not sure what we need to do as its very annoying when i go to wash the dishes and realise i have no hot water.

Any help greatly appreciated.

donna

I would guess then it's a Cascade mk2 made from late 88 to late 91 heater which suffer from this problem, this is purely down to their age and the effect that has on the electronic control. What I think is happening is it's lighting but failing to stay lit because the electronics are sometimes not recognising the flame has lit so shutting it down and which should then be showing the red light?. As sometimes can happen with this particular age, the electronics can start workings correctly for a time but fail again next time out. Solution is an exchange 'burner module'

Always though, check all connections particularly fuses in the control switch and the fuse holder clips which weaken with age.

If it just has a single green light which flashes when there's a fault, then this is the mk1 from 79 to 84. I would first check the wire connection to the control switch by pulling of the plastic bar and pushing it back on a couple of time to scratch a fresh connection. It's the same problem as above but not for the same reason.

Lastly both heaters need more than 10.5 volts, 11v to be sure, or both will play up like this.
