Very new to caravanning - so forgive me if I'm being thick!!!
We're going away with friends at the end of October and want to be able to use the awning into the evening (with a couple of nice glasses of wine!!) while our children use the caravan and, being a bit soft, want to be warm at the same time.
We're looking at buying a 1200w halogen heater - is this likely to be enough to take the chill of in our 18x8ft awning?
We used to use a fan heater in the awning of our folding camper and it was brilliant. Personally I don't like the light from a halogen heater and don't find they're very effective unless you're standing right in front of them.
Some of sites will not allow heaters in any form in the awning and as the halogen glows nice and brightly you may be a target however they cannot spot a fan heater which is probably more efficient. Our halogen ha only been used once and has been in storage since October last year.
We always used a fan heater in in our tent before we became proud caravan owners, and we do the same in our awning now. We got one that does both cold air for hot summer nights (ha ha, in our dreams ) and hot air for the colder nights ( more like it ) We are newies like you, but we find this site is a godsend. Hope you are enjoying the caravanning as much as we do.
Thanks for the info. I totally agree - this site is a godsend, in the space of two weeks we have been persuaded to buy a fan heater instead of a halogen heater, have repaired our floor based on advice on delamination and are going out today to get a cover - all based on info from UKCS - Thanks!
