Just stumbled across this whilst trying to find out about caravan covers on the CC site!
"Some inferior plastic water pipes or containers can give the drinking water a 'tep' type of taste, which is very unpleasant. This is usually triggered by a heavily chlorinated water supply, where the chlorine combines with phenol leached into the plastic, to give trichlorophenol, or TCP. Unfortunately, once the pipes have been so affected the only known complete cure is pipe replacemnt with a food quality grade of pipe as used by the brewers, etc." Wondered if this is of any help.

I believe most if not all new caravans have food grade pipework. Swift Group said they no longer needed to include water filters because of this. (Though that doesn't totally make sense to me)
We had the same problem thought it was the water on site, the couple we go awat with were ok . We put it down to the kettle it was one of those tesco cheap kettles through it out and bought a new one no more problems might just be a coincidence though sorry bout the spelling LOL

That's excatly what it tastes like TCP!! I originally blamed hubby
for filling up with waste water, instead of drinking water!!
We have had this exact problem in 2 folding campers and a caravan - all purchased new. Try Aqua-Sol (from caravan accessory shop). It has worked for us. You add a small measured amount to the aquaroll and is safe to drink. We don't use it all the time but have it with us to use should 'the taste' appear.
hi this problem came up a year ago with new vans and it turned out to be the water pipes used in the new van.some people had them changed and all was ok from then on.i use milton.only leave it in for one hour the tank on the hot water does not like it. theres one called CLEAN TABS come in tablet form, not cheap but you can leave it in and drink it as its a water purifying tablet
We also have had this problem and as another member has said fill a container at the site water tap and is perfectly fine, but if you run it through the caravan taps tastes horrible,we have tried milton and puriclean but made no difference.
