I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on a problem with the heater in our van...
We've noticed that the heater isn't getting warm when running on electricity, but it works fine when on gas. The fan is working fine.
I read about some Fanmaster's having a reset button on them, but apparently the 5500 doesn't - according to the manual, you reset it by switching it off and switching it back on again. Tried this, but still doesn't work
First think to check is the mains 'kettle' plug has not worked loose or even fallen out!! it's at the bottom of the black control box which is at the back top right of the fire. Also of course check the isolation 'switched spur' is on and the red light showing, if no red light then either no power to switch or the 10A fuse has blown.
This model together with the 2000 and 4000 from 1998 on, is known as the mk2 Fanmaster and indeed does not have a manually resettable trip.
Hopefully you don't need to take the van to bits!! if theres a draw above you can reach through there. The plug is an 'elbow' type rather than the common straight one, the cable comes up from the floor and the plug turns a right angle toward the centre of the fire. There should be a cable tie holding the cable more or less in position, so with a bit of luck if it is loose it's just a matter of a little push
Help...I have a Fanmaster Turbo 5500 in a 2000 bessacarr it has been working fine untill yesterday when it failed to fire up on gas.So removed the front cover today, i pressed down turned the ignition knob green light comes on then only ONE very small spark across the pilot but no ignition tried several times and on the odd occasion had a little blue puff but no full pilot light ignition..... hence no full flame. Many thanks.
....(New member today).Have looked at this site many times and it comes up with many problems and many answers and seems to solve many of the members issues.
Sounds like the ignition module is giving up? certainly had many in for repair just giving a spark or two.
You could though try moving the ignition wire somewhat, it passes down underneath in a fibreglass sheaf, it's possible it's shorting to earth enroute so no spark at the burner, it only need about 1/4 inch of movement to make the spark gap the easiest path to earth.
Other than that, sadly while it's opportune asking just now as I've been monitoring the forum, it's because I'm away and won't be back in the saddle till 12th of Feb so cannot help until then
Hi Gary.. I did see a wire going from the back of the ignition module, so will give it a wiggle tomorrow and see what happens. This happened at an inopportune for us realy as we are ready to go over the water this coming week so HEY HO.Will keep you posted manny thanks.Enjoy your break.....
Oops...silly me did not read your post properly wiggling the wrong bloody wire. Will have a go at the blue one tomorrow.
