We have found a small amount of damp on one side of our caravan which appears to have been caused when the seal failed along the side panel.  Having spoken with our local dealer they suggested resealing the whole of that side (which we have done) and then placing vents partially into the side panel near to the damp to allow any residual moisture to evaporate away on its own.

Has anyone else done this or do you have any suggestions about how we should go about completing this job ourselves?

Thanks

Try the absorbant crystals they will tell you if there is any moisture left.

Hi, The suggestion of your dealer about the internal vents is fairly standard practice when dealing with minor damp problems, with the interior board covered with vinyl, and the source of the leak outside sealed there is no where for the moisture to go if you use a heater/dehumidifier inside, what we usually do is fit little circular press in vents, usually in a cupboard or wardrobe as close to the damp area as possible, then if you use a heater it will draw most of the damp out, these vents are available from most dealers shops, just a matter of getting a drill bit the correct size drill through the ply ONLY them press the vent into place.
