My rails all have a rubber seal under them which then has the mastic applied, so the metal rail is not sealed itself. I need to replace this rubber, does anyone else have rubber seals and can I purchase more?

Cheers

Robin

Unfortunately it is nearly 15 years old and i think the company went bust then resurfaced with no link to the past!

Robin

I've replied to your other thread and saw this one. The seal I got was the same shape as CS924 on the sealsdirect site under caravan seals. Our Elddis Wisp is 13 years old. My local dealer only charged 40p a metre compared to £1.58 at sealsdirect

I'm sure I've seen it online at 70p/metre.

Local dealer also sold me the rolls of paper backed triangular section sealant for the middle groove of the awning rail. He said fit the triangular seal in centre groove then run two parallel beads of Sikaflex or IDL  onto the caravan to seal to the rubber seals. That's how I'll be doing it.

Thanks Jim,

Not sure about the triangular bit, I don't think mine has. It is just a flat piece of rubber with edges that go around the metal, a sort of bed with sides I suppose. I was beginning to think no other rails were fitted in this way. I have left the rubber in a bucket for a while, after about half an hour the stuff was coming off but the rubber has curled! And I cant get it all off. My local dealers don't seem very helpful! May be I can try something from Seals direct. Don't know. Just want to coming and sit in front of a nice warm fire now!

Cheers

Robin

Hey guys,

Just thought I would up date. I had put the rubber seal in a bucket of white spirit. Not all the mastic had come off and it had gone a funny shape.

Now I have been away for a few days and it seems to have straightend out. Not so bad although not all the mastic has come off. Will have to clean it again I think as local dealers don't seem helpful!

Cheers everyone.
