Does anyone use a 12 volt freeview box running into a portable dvd player?

This looks like a cheap way with low power consumption to get TV in my van. I was looking at a 15 inch LCD but they have too high power consumption. A 10 inch portable DVD player has low power use.

If anyone has tried this way have they got any pros /cons?

One bonus is you also have a dvd player.

I suppose it's possible, but why not get a hook up and have 240volts?

I use a normal set top box linked up to a portable DVD player.  Works ok.

we use a phillips 12 volt freeview and works fine. it is 240volts aswell. brought from currys last year

Yes I want it for 12 volt only.

 Im looking for an lcd screen tv , but have a offside fixed bed caravan that has an overhead tv locker with turntable . Want a 15" one that i can view from front dinette , but with these lcd tv`s if you are not viewing them at a 90 degree angle the screen on some looks black . So with tv turntable locker being near ceiling viewing angle is extreme .Then i want a freeview harddrive recorder that is slim so tv can fit on top and not too high lcd tv so both can fit on turntable (have 39 cm height in locker ) .Would like dual 12v and 240 v but with this locker restriction i am b*ggered .

Liked the avtex 6 in 1 lcd tv ,dvd player etc but has a leg at back to prop it up this leads to screen pointing upwards ,so bad viewing angle .

hi scuba, is the any way of attaching and LCD wall bracket in the locker, Then it could be swiveled on the bracket, instead of on the turntable, saving a bit of space, some of the better quality (and more expensive) LCDs do have a better veiwing angle.

 I wouldnt like to attach a wall bracket permantly to any surface of caravan , in case of later selling it (screw-holes) .The viewing angles are getting better so i will just have to go to shops themselves measure up an lcd tv and duck down 4 ft to see picture quality (seating area is 4 ft lower than tv locker) , i have done that in Comet and got some strange looks LOL. I have seen these flip down tv`s that could be screwed underneath but as i said for me i don`t like screw-holes.
