Hi

Even fairly cheap damp meters are quite good

BUT BEWARE:-

When I first tried mine I couldn't get a bleep even though I knew there was damp there (spongy walls) - then I pushed the probes through the (vinyl?) wallpaper and did it scream.

I read a good tip on another thread - use drawing pins so's the holes aren't noticeable and put the meter probes on the drawing pin heads - works a treat

The really good damp meters can run around the £100 mark

hi yes B&Q do damp meters thats were i got mine from i think it was about £9.99 works very well all i would say if your checking wall boards take a couple of drawing pins with you and push them into the wallboards as the prongs are not very sharp to get it into.

oh Micheal you beat me too it i was just about to say screw fix never mind, if you type on the Google search "damp meter" then froogle it the are loads under £40 online to buy from.
