Going away for new year but going to look at wiring. Internal 12v circuit lights don't work. 1989 avondale perle olympus. Any ideas where to start, cannot even find a fuse box/circuit board.

hi welcome to ukcs, there is no easy way round it,you will need to check all wires back from the battery if all fuses are ok.the one i use is a simple short wire with a small clamp at one end and a screwdriver type that lights up and a sharp point on the other.the clamp goes to earth or negitive return and the sharp bit is pushed into the wires of the live.if the wire is ok the light on the screwdiver bit lights up.this way you can trace all wires for being broken.the old way was to wire lights in a line so check all bulbs are working first.[:o)]

its like this one           www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com

Hi Snails , welcome to ukcs .

First use your hookup lead and get the mains running in your caravan , do your lights work now , if they do it could be just that the battery is a bit low ( tube lights don't like low voltage ) .
If they still don't work locate the main light switch ( normally on a switch panel with others like " Van / Car " " Aux " ) look just below the switches are there any fuses ( sometimes look like large black plastic screw caps ) check them if they are there .

Apart from the above do as Michael says and check starting from the battery ( there's normally an inline fuse on the plus side of the battery ) .

yeah, thanks for the replies. Have already tried the hookup to car trick and fuse from + side of battery is fine. Strange though because water pump and firdge and fire pump work fine. Didn't realise about fuses looking like black plastic screw caps; thaks again. Will have a look in am.

"black plastic screw caps"  should have said the cap unscrews and the fuse is inside .
"Have already tried the hookup to car trick "   I ment hooking your caravan you to house mains .

Good luck , let us know how you get on .

Not sure about this particular van but in ones I've had that were that age the 12v system was totally separate from the mains circuit, no battery charger, so the 12v wouldn't run from the EHU. They didn't all have mains lighting either so I always carried a table lamp to use if ever the battery was flat.
