Hi, this might sound a bit thick - when we are away in the colder months  we have our heating on in our caravan low during the evening, we then turn it off to go to bed and when we awake we have really wet windows.  Please can you help me to combat this as it uses a hell of a lot of kitchen roll to do all the windows in our van.  I have read that some people leave their heating on  very low and open the windows to the night vent (open but locked position) but I am unsure of this.  Many thanks Gary.

hi we have the same problem on our 2003 bailey this time of year.more so if there is three of us.if it gets too bad i put folded towels in the window bottom.the only way is to leave the windows on the night latch, like you dont like this idea.we have a small dehumidifier i had thought of leaving this on at night but not tried as yet.[:(]

STOP BREATHING......But seriously, We had this problem and found it worse with the heating on during the night, So we now heat the van up prior to bed and leave a window in the 'vent' postion, We never feel a draught and on the rare occasion we have felt cold I've set the blown air thermostat real low and it kicks in and takes the chill off. I guess it may be a case of experimentation until you find whats right for your van, but theres a couple of ideas.

Hi,

we leave the roof vent slightly open and the electric heating on low overnight. Mrs Ulti-Mate complains it's too hot but at least the windows are clear in the morning.

We keep a few windows on night vent and the heating on low. The 'vented' windows are always clear and dry in the mornings but the ones kept shut always have a little condensation on them. Not brave enough to vent them all!

I would like to thank you all.  One of our main problems is that we use THS's and weekend events with no electric hook-up.  We will try what you have all suggested and see how it goes.  As for STOP BREATHING- well I would love my hubby to especially when the snoring starts!!  We only got our van in Feb 06 as we were canves campers previous so all this is sooooo new, sorry for maybe sounding a bit dumb- but like they say if you don't ask you will never know.  We have just had 5 days away in Wiltshire for the New Year, we got through 85mph winds, torrential rain, thunder, lightning and a slight shower of light hail.  So a bit of condensation shouldn't bother us really.  Many thanks once again.  Where would we all be without this kind of help.  Gary and family

We have suffered this problem.  Next time, we are considering leaving the Heiki on first latch, and keeping the electric heater on low.  May work; may not!

I know how you feel.  We too are hardy campers, we are just back from New Year with no hook up.

We leave the gas on at one and have at least 3 windows on secondary keepers.  Obviously cant use electric heating or blown air as no hook up.  Our windows are always clear, with the exception of a tiny amount on a couple of the front windows.

Our problem is that every bottom cupboards back wall is satuarated in condensation.  So bad that the back garage door actually frooze inside (We had a hook up that night).  The bottom of the caravan feels very cold indeed, and is uncomfortable to sit with feet on floor, legs up to knee are soo cold we have to sit with legs up.  and yes this is with the heating on.

Spoke to Caravan club Technical and this is not normal van going in tommorrow.  Does anyone else have this problem?  We have a Swift 6 berth which is 6 months old.  Our Bailey 5 berth did not do this under same or worst conditions.

Anne

WELL_ may I thank you all very very much, all of these notes are written down in our little book.  Our next trip out is in March---so we shall try some of these then and report back as to what was best for us.  When we had 'canvas' we were always bothered about mould and we think this has stuck (even though we are no longer under canvas), so now we check everywhere and are very cautious- well better safe than sorry.   We have been told that when we put the caravan at the lock-up turn the seat cushions over and pull away from the walls as to let it all breath, we have put plenty of those crystall thingies in tubs in and during Nov/Dec we have had NO water collecting in the bottom of the tubs BUT the crystals went solid.  Many thanks and Happy Caravanning to you all.  Gary
