I wonder if anyone can offer any advice/assistance with this problem

The Electrolux RM4271 Fridge on my caravan has stopped working on mains electricity, it does however, still work fine on 12v & gas. Reading other forums seems to indicate the fault will likely be that the heating element has gone so thought I'd replace and see.

I'm now having problems find a replacement element for the RM4271, There seems to one available for the RM4270 but not the RM4271 does anyone know if they are the same and if so are they simply enough to replace.

Thank you for that Micky,  yes it is plugged in and I've checked the fuses.

I've a feeling it's the element but not sure how to (a) test it or (b) replace it

hello there, you should be able to test the element by checking for continuity with a meter  across the two wires / terminals, removing the element is an easy job with the fridge removed, all you have to do is remove the tin cover and insulation very carefully around the pipe that leads up to the flue, you might get away with just undoing it and not completly removing ,when this is opened up / removed you will see two elements held against the flue pipe one of these will be your 240v one the other the 12v one trace the wires down from your 240v switch to get the right one, you should be able to just lift the element up and out of the loop holding it hopefully it wont be rusted to much. by the way when did you last have fridge serviced while you have it out it would be wise to get it done as they are often overlooked,  if you decide to have a go make sure you get the correct wattage element this should be marked on the fridge somwhere, normally on a plate inside the door..........Mark

The element is a 125w 230v and the same as a 4270, the 4271 is the same fridge but an inch wider.

Thanks everyone, last night checked the switch was receiving power, which it was. Then checked the element which showed it to have blown.

A new one ordered 125w 230v from LeisureShopDirect Ltd last night.

Once again thanks for your assistance

Mine is a RM7401 and failed twice on mains before the engineer realised it had been fitted with the wrong element . It had one intended for France and had replaced like for like at first.
