If you were touring then I don't think the fridge would be happy with all the joogling around it would get. But fine if your van is on a seasonal pitch.
In the motorhome conversion my OH did several years ago we couldn't afford a 3 way fridge so we bought a small table top domestic fridge which did the job admirably, wasn't too heavy and only cost £80
Just a thought

I have three sides, left, right and wrong - which one are you on?
Went on one site and three caravans in a row had awnings with a full size fridge in each just to keep the beer cold - wondered about the weigh and how they transported them

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.
The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.
I used a full size fridge in a caravan I had years ago with no problems and used a table top in the last caravan. The trick is to leave them standing 4 hours before you turn them on, this gives the gasses time to settle.
I use a domestic fridge no problem. Actually, it's one of the larger type beer coolers from Argos.I fitted it in place of the caravan fridge when ours died. Wife likes it because it's a nice square box with no strange shapes in the door etc.It has at least the same capcity as a normal caravan fridge, weighs less and is fully thermostat controlled so keeps everything at the perfect temperature.
Our usual way is to cool the fridge down at home, load it up and then just plug in again when you get to site. OK, you ideally need hook up, but we have used it for weekends running it from 12v with an invertor too.
I know that many Continentals carry a domestic fridge. This is usually placed in the awning when on site, and is mainly used for keeping drinks cool and a bit of storage back-up.
But for use as an alternative to the conventional caravan fridge, no thanks. A bit of a pig's ear to my way of thinking.
