We have had various Outwell tents including most recently a 2005 Montana and a 2006 Indiana. Never had any problems with them and always been very pleased with the quality and reliability.

I don't know what has changed, and of course we don't how  the statistics for faulty tents reported here compares with the number of unproblematic Outwells being bought, but now  I would hesitate to buy some of the models being regularly mentioned here.

I have a feeling that the rather fine Indianas aren't getting reported as faulty in the same way as some of the more elaborate Outwells, but I could be wrong. MT

Hi all. Sorry to hear about your problems with the vermont L. I have recently purchased a Vermont XL and used it for the first time over the bank holiday weekend in Brean in Somerset. Its the worst camping experiance I have ever had. Awful torrential rain and very high winds. This leads me on to the tent itself. I only wish I had discovered this site before buying my new tent because mine has all the same problems. Water leaked in constantly from the bottom of both sides of the seam that the bedrooms are attached from. Also from the seams around the side doors and again a single dripping leak from the roof light hanger above the centre of the main room. Also I had trouble with one of the bottom mud valance at the front tearing slightly. I thought this was a problem caused from high winds but this has happened to others too without the wind problem so I now think its more of a general problem. I had bought the tent from World Of Camping whom when I contacted them have told me that this is standard practice to have to seam seal the leaking seams with the sealer that is supplied. I must admit that I am very dissapointed with these problems as the tent itself is a really good size for bigger families with plenty of living space. The other thing was the amount of wind that blew through the tent was very uncomfortable and with the tent rocking by 6" - 10" at one time thought we might end up in Weston Super Mare by the morning!! I dont really know what to do about the tent now, wether to try the seam sealer and keep my fingers crossed or return the tent and look for another. I have also heard that once the seams have been sealed Outwell will no longer refund or replace it so bit confused which route to go. If anyone has some advise for me then please reply. Thanks. Dean Powell.

if its that bad Dean then dont touch it and take it back. i have used ny nebraska xl for the second time this year and it did leak but only from the very back bedroom seams. apparently i did sleep through a good soaking (on the outside) and we didnt get wet.so im opting for keeping mine as if i exchange it i may get one worse then i already have.
