Louise - good choice with the Outwell - I got no probs with mine!!  I had a salesman that would not sell me a tent because of a similar assembly problem - I like those sort and it was not as though he was getting me to buy a more expensive tent which was really nice.

Andy - Good Luck with the tent - remember it gets easier the more time you put it up and down.  Hope your first weekend with it goes well - keep us all posted.

Louise x

Hi Andy,

We are just looking at exactly the same tents. I've seen the Monty up and love it, I've also seen the Vango Brekenridge (6 man) up and it looks good, but I'm not sure whether the living areas is as useful. We were also looking at buying the Killington, but there have been a number of problems with anchorige points in the 600 & 900 models - as a result Vango have taken the step of withdrawing them from sale - big well done to Vango fo acknowledging this and doing something about it. Think we're gonna plump for the Monty

Hi Coopster,

We were going to go for the montana too but have ended up going for a wild country halo 104. I don't know if you've looked at this tent but I think it has a few advantages over the montana.

1. I've read a few threads on these message boards about outwell tents leaking, none about wild country tents leaking. I think it's probably quality control rather than shoddy design or materials, but still...

2. The wild country has a larger porch, which can be made bigger with the add on porch extension for the 2006 model

3. The 2006 halo 104 is cheaper than the montana and is a good quality tent.

4. There are 3 separate bedrooms in the halo arranged round a central living space.

Hope this is helpful rather than sowing more confusion.

Here's the wild country thread...
