I'd go for cotten every tim eif I hade the money and the right tent came up I have found to my supprise a cotton dome tent!!

Its made by Cabanon but I cant find a price for it in the UK. if its made to Cabanons usual high standard it should be a good buy for anyone who wants a dome that wil lat a life time

In the thread they talk of the Anglesey, the older inner first version where the 'eyebrow' was a full porch.  I think I was best searching for it under 'camping under canvas'.  I saw the phoenix before buying it and thought it was great.  I won't get to try it until weekend after next.

Why go to the expense of buying a new Cabanon? There are lots of good second hand ones around   Canvas frame tents last 20-30 years, so no worries about buying one which is already ten years old. IMO Cabanon are the best, but Raclet, Trigano & Marechal are also very good quality canvas.

As regards touching the canvas when it's raining, most Cabanons have a PVC coated mudwall which is around 18" deep, so no worries about a bag or storage box etc. touching the sides.

Another advantage with a frame tent is that they tend to have more windows, so if it's a wet, miserable day, you can still have a good view of the campsite, so you don't feel isolated.
