£220 will get you the Khaym Ontario 8 which is a FAB tent.

Ours is a 2007 and has withstood everthing the great British weather has thrown at it over the past 3 years, really easy to put up, spacious living area and versitile sleeping accommodation which can genuinely sleep 8 people. 225cm tall and standing height throughout.

Our tent is a Fjallraven. In the 'cough, cough' years we've been camping and of the 'cough, cough' tents (of all makes) we've had - this is the best by far . . . . . . . . . .   but £200?

We used to have an Aztec Cantera 9, superb tent, well made, lifetime guarantee on poles, stood up to the Cornish monsoon season (August) superbly, never let in a drop of water, had this tent for two years and then sold it to a friend who is still using it.

For the same trip we purchased an Aztec Cascada 2 man for the niece to sleep in, once again superbly made, lifetime guarantee on poles and from being new out of the packet never let a drop of water in, even though the heavens opened, this little 2 man lightweight was still waterproof.

All we can say is buy Aztec!

Hi all, we love the Hi-Gear tents (Go-Outdoors branded tents made by Gelert).

We have the Caplan 5 and Zenobia 6 - both excellent tents and can't fault either. They also make a Kalahari 8 or 10 which I'm sure would be just as good if you need more space.

Happy Camping! :)

In YOUR opinion, what is the best quality brand/make for tents...

How long is a piece of string?

Vaude and Wild Country both have excellent reputations, especially for smaller all-season tents (for instance Vaude's Taurus Ultralight was Camping magazine's 'best value tent'). For something bigger, Outwell score consistently well in reviews and Obelink bell tents are renowned for their quality.

Quality will, of course, vary with price: size for size, you cannot reasonably compare tents costing under £50 with those costing up to £250.

And, as others have said, quality can vary within brands.

... would appreciate it if you could tell me the make of yours.

Of my several tents, I am particularly pleased with my Vango three-berth which, though not particularly high spec, is sturdy and well made for the price.

If I had £200 to spend, I would definitely be looking at purchasing a Cabanon frame tent. They are the best. So much so that I am now even going to start thinking of selling/offloading all my others. I slept in canvas last summer and now nothing else will do although I will use the Zenobia 6 when I camp with my sister. The Hypercamp Eldorado totally spoilt me and then I picked up a lovely little red Relum tent from a lady on the outskirts of Birmingham. The little Cabanon Etna is my favourite I just adore it and can't wait to camp in it again.
