Sue, please don't take this the wrong way but if you buy a ProAction tent you will most likely not enjoy your camping trip. I had one for my first tent, and it leaks like a sieve, is not the easiest tent to put up properly and also lets in every single draft going.......
You will have a far more enjoyable experience if you buy one of the well-known brand tents mentioned above....yes the ProAction is cheap but for a very good reason - it's rubbish!!! That was my experience anyway.
Hope you do end up with a great tent and have a wonderful time camping......
Sue, even the Corvus 8 is great. It's only 34 over budget but so much bigger for your needs and the front opens like a canopy. I've been in it at Go Outdoors and it's very airy open. I quite liked it for a "cheap" tent. The price of 134 has been their price since the summer and wasn't clearanced like the rest of the tents. Use that information to get a bit of a discount and see if you can get it closer to your budget. Just ask and haggle, now is the time they want to sell and 34 isn't that much, maybe even if they take 30 off, still nothing compared to what they have taken off the other tents.
But I would go for the corvus 8 over the 6 with the dogs.
I too thought of recommending the corvus 8 but thought if I'd read correctly and it's one adult with 2 kids and 3 dogs it might be a bit big to put up just with kids help. If I'm wrong and there's 2 adults I too would deffo take the bigger option, gives more space.
Whatever you decide lets hope it suits well and keeps the weather out!
Have a great time camping.

Kate, you're right, but she does have a 12 year old and should be able to help with this tent. The 8 only has 4 pole sections. We have 5 on our Vermont L and I only support the poles and that's it. You could actually assemble the 8 1 section at a time once pegged at the back and the back guys in place.
Plus if they every do get in a pickle, there's always someone to help. I would do it in a heartbeat.

hi, I am still looking for a 1st tent..me with 2 kids (8 and 12) ..oh and 3 dogs lol..I need to be able to put it up easily and it has to be cheap but not tat.
Could you get to a Decathlon store (see here for one in Cheshire)?
You could do worse than opt for the T4.2 at £79 (here) or the T4.2XL at £99 (here).
We bought the T4.2 when extra guests joined us unexpectedly on a recent trip away, and found it to be a super and quick to pitch tent with excellent ventilation (no condensation issues at all), small pack size and totally waterproof. For the money, and for a first tent, they are excellent buys IMHO.
Best of luck, whatever you decide.
