I may have mentioned before ( several times ) on these hallowed pages that we love our Hartfords (XL & M),Yes they do take longer to put up, once up they stay up though. Yes when its raining the inner will get wet, get the outer on & open the vents ,its dry in no time. As the inner & outer are both pegged down your tent will catch all the cheaper ones as they blow across the site ( add a small fee for returning them).

Had a look at this years "uprated" single skin Hartford. Walked & walked out never to return, really disappointed, cant believe they are charging more for only half the tent.

There is a single skin tent that has caught my eye though, the new Idaho, the layout is excellent & no bending even in the corners just the problem of "dont touch the sides in the morning or when its raining".

Which do I prefer, double every time at the moment, warm & cool when you want it to be, more secure when it starts to blow, just the general feel of 2 layers between you & the great outdoors.

Would I have a single skin, Yes, our first family tent was a Skandika & we still have it, very easy to put up, lend it to friends who want to come with us, survived a tree falling on it, got more than a couple of people into camping.

At the end of the day its all about personal choice & what you want out of the tent but above all camping " is what YOU make it".

ps nice one Gary, good question.

pps look at the length of this reply, I really should get a life, I want to go outside but the voices in my head keep telling me to check if theres any more new posts.

I've got a Vango Diablo 600. The tent's fab. It's double skinned. No probs with condensation, no probs with cold or too hot. Big living area, easy to put up (needs 2 though). I think Coleman, and a multitude of others do a similar style. Your choice..
