Ok - last question of the evening - is the Global a 2007 or 2008 model.

Just went to the camperlands website and it says 2008 Sunncamp Global 600. It also states that there is a dividing curtain in the bedroom, but also says inner tents (plural). It's also £429! But I haven't seen a 2008 model except here.

Ok v/ confused now..

Most people would advise seeing the tent in the flesh first. i would advise it myself if at all possible. but we only have one decent camping shop in our area, and they never had the tents I wanted on display.

But, to be honest every tent I've ever bought , and there have been quite a few, i have only seen one in the flesh. it was our very first one,  a canvas frame tent, ten years ago.It was about £400 and is still going strong, my sister bought it off me a year later when we bought a caravan.

maybe I have been very lucky in my choices, but not one of them has been a baddun.

All of my tents, except the first one,  have been last years model or bought in a sale online. i don't see the need to have this years model if last years is half the price.

i know what style I like, what features I want, and i've learnt over the years to check everything out on the net for reviews and best price,  before buying.

With the global, although I can't find any reviews here,  I already knew that the eden is top quality, both made by sunncamp and in the same (premier or platinum, whatever they call it ) range, but the global has the steel poles and the eden is fibreglass.

It is all resting on my shoulders with my friends too. They aren't really bothered whether the bedrooms are seperate or not. there's no real privacy anyway when they are side by side, whether seperate or not. And no, they havent opened it out to look yet. You could always give them a ring and ask?

Thanks, Debbie. You're experience is comforting in this process.

Well, according to the instruction manual from the Sunncamp website, the berth is only a four person berth with a divding curtain. How is it being sold as a six person tent? Is it just my ignorance of the terminology?

more confusd than ever now. the outdoor megastoer say 2x 3 berth inners , another site, can't remember which shows as a dotted line which ususally means a divider, and the sunncamp website says 4 berth?

its definitely wider than any 4 berth i've ever known , The tent is 4m wide, thats definitelt not the width of a 4 berth inner, 4 berth inners are usually less than  3m wide. A double airbed is 140 wide .

The global is about the same width as the eden and that is 6 berth , same as the montana and the kestrel6. it's not a 4 berth tent, there must be a misprint on the sunncamp site.

The only way to settle it is to see it. I might check previous threads looking for people who have bought it.

Things aren't ever simple!!

Just done a search on previous threads. As far back aas april last year, people have been toying between the global and the montana only to end up with teh montana. even then there were only a few places displaying it.

the words leap of faith spring to mind!!!

That's very kind of you, but you've not been well, so honestly - no pressure! If you all manage to put it up, great. If not, then we'll just have to do what we would have done before the internet... buy and try!

have a good weekend. xx

We put the tent up in pouring rain on Friday . They hadn't had it out of the box to check anything, because they wouldn't know what they were supposed to be checking for.

anyway, when I arrived they had threaded the poles in and it was ready to raise. No problem at all. Everything was straight and square. It was pitched perfectly first time.

The bedroom is one big inner with a toggle in curtain to divide it in the middle. They had 2 double airbeds in it, with a gap between them, and plenty of room. A double row of storage pockets in the centre of the inner tent. About 8 pockets I think.

The wardrobe side extension was a bit confusing. It is just an extension, with a door to close it off from the main tent. Why its called a wardrobe I don't know? there was no hanging rail or shelves or anything provided. There were 3 rings on the roof part of it, but seemed to serve no purpose. The bucket was put in there and some plastic boxes with clothes in.

Plenty of windows all round, curtains roll up from the bottom, on the idside.  and the tent was nice and light and airy. The quality was every bit as good as the Eden. It was warm and cosy inside, it has a silver groundsheet which is heat reflective. It rained heavily for a few hours, all dry inside. The doors have bug mesh and when the sun came out on saturday it was well ventilated.  My friends were very pleased with it and happy that it was easy to put up, and dismantled it themselves too. Also quick and easy to do.

I thought that my friends were winding me up when they said, its a lovely tent but would be nicer if it had a porch?

There was no sun canopy with it. They have to get on to outdoor megastore tomorrow to find out what happened with that.
