Some more information on this new range from http://www.outdoorworlddirect.co.uk/blog/uncategorized/outwell-avantgarde-collection

Outwell Avantgarde Collection

The Outwell brand has been one of the leading brands in the tent market through innovation, quality and design. This has helped them launch their brand across Europe successfully challenging other brands such as Vango and Khyam. Outwell has now become the most high value brand on the outdoor camping market.

When perfection is the only parameter

For 2009 Outwell are launching their new flagship brand - the Avantgarde collection. This collection will sit above the Premium collection in the Outwell tent range. As camping moves forward with technology, and the demand for quality becomes higher, this range meets the needs of the modern camping family. The idea of this Avantgarde collection is to enhance the ambiance of the camping lifestyle.

The new Avantgarde integrates the finest materials with the newest technology, it completely redesigns the interiors of the tents with cutting edge trends and patterned interior and exterior. Outwell have taken every measure to ensure that each tent has a great deal of personalisation and have introduced a new colour scheme in Mocha to launch the collection with.

Matching Accessories

As with every Outwell tent range, all the accessories are there to match from windbreaks, canopies carpet to footprints. This range is for the campers who want to achieve the home away from home feel that hasn’t quite been achieved with tents thus far. The range offers top comfort, top class and luxury.

The tents included in the range are very similar to the Premium range of tents such as the Vermont and the Idaho. However the Avantgarde range has more personality and quality of ambiance.

Models in the range

Outwell Ohio L/XL comfort rated 4 - 6 person

Outwell Maryland XXL/XL comfort rated 8 - 12 person

Outwell Arkansas 5/7 comfort rated 4 - 6 person

The future - how will the market react to the Avantgarde range

One can never quite be sure how a new range such as the Avantgarde range will be taken in the marketplace. The Outwell brand has already attached itself to the top end of the market in terms of price point. However in such times of economic turmoil, will people spend £700 - £800 on a luxurious tent in the UK market or will they simply just stick to what makes camping so much fun - the simple family tent.

i love the idea of having a towel rail, and also the wardrobes in between pods, only thing is, does it make the pods smaller or the tent wider, than say a outwell monty?

lol shame about the stripes!!

I really want the arkansas 5, OH thinks we need the arkansas 7, but I think that may be a man thing!!! But £700-£800 !!!!!!!OMG. The problem is I have spent the last 4 years in a sun valley 6 saying that if it had steel poles that were curved like the fibreglass ones, with a pre-attached front porch, It would be my ideal tent. They finally bring it out months after my sunvalley dies and I can't afford it!!!! Stripes, mocha and grass prints I can live with, but a mortgage on my tent!!!!?????
The thing is I know I will buy it but I do object to the whole 'Avent garde, being better than the premium range. A drying rail is not justification for a £400 hike in price and elevating a whole range of tents above things like the monty.
None of this would be a problem if I could trust myself not to buy, but I know I will, and I hate myself for having no will power.

Must admit they have  put the prices up an awful lot, i know a few on here were saying about a 30% price increase  for 2009 tents due to the  high price in materials to make the tents.

Just glad i took delivery of a monty 6 afew weeks ago,or i  would be tempted to buy  a  2009 model!!

I dont actually mind the new colourway, I think it looks quite retro, but OMG how can they charge that much for a POLYESTER tent??

If it was the Poly Cotton, perhaps that would be ok, but 700 quid......?

You could buy a really nice dutch canvas tent for that price...

There are plenty of nice tents still knocking about at retailers for a lot less than £700. I'd be thinking twice about buying something like that if I hadn't already got my new tent this year
