I recieved my Dakota 6 today from allweathers, did'nt realise that the bag would be so huge and the pole bag would be even heavier !!! Shall give it a test run this weekend once the footprint arrives, still miffed at not getting the half price carpet though !!
I can't believe the Dakota 6 is £299 and the carpet is £45. I looked there when I bought mine just over a month ago but the cheapest I could get it for was £360.
And, I've just bought the Utah 6 carpet for £45 because I couldn't find the Dakota 6 carpet for less than £79.
I'm slightly gutted, when did the price drop to £299?

It dropped about 2 weeks ago, they said that they had a deal with outwell and once everything was sold there would be no more stock, shame as i wanted the footprint and carpet but both sold out!

They had run out of stock of the Dakota 6 carpets, but they had the Dakota 8 carpets in stock for £45, so I looked at the measurements of the two on the outwell site and it looked like it would fit the Dakota 6 anyway, took the gamble and ordered it and can confirm the Dakota 8 carpet fits the Dakota 6 tent!
Another camping virgin who acquired a Dakota 6 from allweathers, and very pleased I am too!! According to an Outwell stockist I spoke to this morning Outwell have discontinued the Dakota so it might be an idea to stock up on all the gubbins when, and where you can find it. I've ended up buying a Dakota 8 footprint after an unfruitful search for a 6, I'll just have to fold the second pod part underneath.
We've had a test pitch and it was quite easy to put up, even by two completed novices - we also had the video on the ipod.
Really excited about camping for the first time - we're off to Northern Ireland on Thursday.
Finally could anybody answer this query
What do you do if you take your tent down when its wet?
Thanks for the heads up about them being discontinued.
If you have to take your tent down when wet, you really ought to re-pitch it to dry it off asap or even if you have a garage, find a way of hanging it up to dry.
The Dakota 6 is new for 2009 an replaces the Uath 6.
It is still on their website, are you sure they meant the Dakota 6 is discontinued and not that the Utah 6 is discontinued?
You can usaully get away with a wet ground sheet for a few weeks but tents can eaily go mouldy and they stink. Best get it re-pitched and aired within a week. (Don't need it ful up, just poles and a few pegs.
