I think I've looked at every tent on the market today...making my head spin (or is that the beer)

Nothing matches my needs in my price bracket unfortunately so giving up for the time being.

I have recently puchased off Ebay an Vango Orchy 400 (£140 with free Footprint)

I have not been camping for many years now but went for the Orchy as the poles cross over in the dome living area. (should be stronger?) Also has plenty of headroom. Once the guy lines are out it should be stable.

I was able to errect the tent on my own on a trial run in the garden (only just fitted in) in about 20 mins plus time to put lines out. Has a lot of space inside.

I won't be using it till next year but the price was good.

According to the tent reviews here, Steve, £140 seems to be about right for a new Orchy 400. May be able to get one cheaper in the end of season sales but they don't seem to be giving much away this year.

I wouldn't be too sure about cross over poles being more sturdy. I thought the same until last weekend when the poles of my present tent were trying to do a figure of eight in the wind. That is one reason why I am looking for a tent with steel poles.

In my experience all tents with fibreglass poles twist and bend in high winds. I have had 3 pole tunnel type tents in the past and they sway something terrible in the wind. They usually recover of course but it's a bit worrying watching the poles bending, especially if you are in it!

Yes, thanks Adandemsmom and Finnboy. I spotted it when I got home from work tonight and ordered it straight away.

The cheapest I could find it anywhere else was £169 with a £6 odd postage charge so £139.95 with free postage has to be the bargain of the year. Stretching my finances a little at the moment but hey! it's nearly Christmas

Just hope I can erect it on my own or I am in heap big trouble
