I use the dirt trapper mat from my front door (just grab it last thing before I lock up the house). It's rubber backed and it's often featured on shopping tv channels for £20 but if you go to B&M bargains it's £6 for the large and £3 for the small.

The last time we'd camped the grass had just been mown, but not collected very well. The mat saved an awful lot of that grass making it in to our tent and I think performs much better than any little mats you would get for a tent.
