To the OP, I would say the problem is long gone, and it appears all was well at the last count, back in Sept 2010!!

To the newer poster, re their Vango Beta XL, firstly, I'd say ignore any previous posts (before yours) as they refer to a cotton canvas tent. Indeed, it appears some posts after yours also refer to canvas (The perils of resurrecting an old thread!)
Yours appears to be a man-made polyester tent, No?   Totally different animals!

Secondly, I'd ask why you say you "need" to waterproof it?
Is it merely because it may be old/used? Are you certain it is actually leaking and/or not waterproof?
If you're not 100% certain, set it up in the garden, wait for it to rain, or get the hose pipe on it, and soak every square inch of the external surface... then come back to us if there is any water ingress, and take note of where the water is getting in.
Leaks to the stitching/seams require a different approach to leaks through the actual fly-sheet.

No action is needed, nor indeed advised, if there are no signs of leaks. Check it our first!

Teach me to check the dates on threads...could have saved myself hours of typing...but then I would probably have had to write out yet again the issues of leaks, condensation, and the use of Fabsil on polyester.

I don't see the problem with resurrecting old threads, as some issues are oft repeated or new people searching the for a for newer info., or things and developments changing?

So, good on you! lol!

No problem with old threads providing you realise they are old, otherwise you start answering the OP's question which may well be irrelevant years later. It is often the case that people haven't done a search and checked out previous threads (or not read them) on the subject...leaking tents must have hundreds of threads

Sometimes easier though just to ask again. I am going to copy my posts on leaking tents from the past threads and then I can just paste them into all the new threads
