Thats a great attitude you have there and your children will certainly benefit from it!

I bet it wont be half as bad as you think come the time. In the unlikely event you were struggling a little you'll almost always find other campers will be on hand to both help with the tent and keep an eye on your children as you pitch it.

Regarding the tent, I think the Icarus might well be a sound suggestion as I happened to be looking at one on display yesterday. The new airbeam models im not so keen on, they seem massively overpriced to me and also seem to be suffering from quality control issues at the moment.

Anyway, good luck with finding your perfect tent and hope you have a great couple of weeks away!

I'm really sorry to hear you've become a single parent! I have a HiGear Mojave 5 which I can put up relatively easily on my own. From start to finish (footprint, tent, guyropes...) it took me an hour - and I wasn't rushing. At the very least I suspect your 9 year old could help by supervising the others on the play area perhaps? The Vango Icarus 600 that has been mentioned is very similar to the Mojave in size so you should be fine with that. And again, I'd be happy to help another camper that was struggling providing my tent was up first!

Hi Humbird, I remember how fed up you were after your early battles with the Wolf Lake, and how impressed I was that you were honest enough to come on here and admit that a simpler tent might have improved your holiday

My approach as a longtime single parent camper would be to find the tent which would give me miniumum stress to put up and down while still giving us a decent time while we were away. If you're camping solo with a small child or children there are more than enough things to stress about already, so the more you can reduce the angst in every aspect the better! Struggling to put up and down a tent which would be fine for a two adult group wouldn't seem like a good start to a holiday to me.
