Not sure of the design of those with such flimsy poles. Remind me of the three little pigs. I'll huff and I'll puff......

Anyone used one in anything more than a slight breeze! Having had a tunnel tent with thicker poles collapse in a storm i wonder about these. Anyone got any experiances?

Believe me the poles aren't flimsy. They are incredibly strong and flexible and will bend in the wind but spring back up again. I have a four man version of the Quechua and I always bring it with me as a back up tent, or a one nighter tent. A storm did some damage to my main frame tent last summer and the pop up got us through a night, it might have been touching our noses at times but there's no way it would actually break.

I think the quechua's are given a pretty bad press in bad conditions

I was told the base seconds would be rubbish in the wind etc etc.

It has been blown and buffeted around in 50mph winds - a few delta pegs and it was solid. Yes the poles are thin but the flexibility works as an advantage in bad weather, as it lets the tent give.

I camped last year for the weekend at Brook Meadows, and as I was going back again the following weekend, just left it for the week.  The weather turned mid week and was gales. Dreaded seeing if there was any damage and it was fine - that was with just normal rock pegs on it, as I hadn't anticipated the weather changing

It was quite happy with a nice dollop of snow on it as well

Give it it's due, they are bloody good little tents - I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of the larger quechuas

Poor little thing has been dragged all over the place the last 12 months (the main tent varies, but i always take this as a utility)

Just got one of these... Going to try putting it up as soon as the garden is dry... They are currently on offer at decathlon for £99! Seems like a bargain.

Is there a knack to putting up / taking down? I can only seem to find decathlon / Quechua videos... It would be nice to see real people pack it away!!! :-)

The Quechua video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xccUK9EwMok&feature=relmfu
is the one to watch i think, for taking the tent down.

I think the secret is when you fold the top of the tent towards the bottom, to squeeze the sides a bit and make sure that it sticks out beyond the base of the tent, just like is shown in the video with the orange line overlays in the video

Looking forward to more sunshine
