Cakeypig, will be interested to hear how your friend gets on (I too have the Cabin 300).

Black plastic hubs - mine is the 2011 model and has the black plastic hubs.  As you say, the videos show an ally ring, and I wonder whether the tent they show is a pre-production model, or it might be the 2010?

Yes I'd agree with BlueC.  Its without doubt an extremely well made tent, and I can pitch mine in minutes and I'm only 5'3".  I do like the tent and it will probably last me a good few years as a second tent.  I still have my very old Campus Borneo 4 which is the love of my life tent-wise.  I've told the Cabin 300 it has a lot to live up to!

I'll be getting the Cabin 300 out a couple of weekends this season so will play about with it on site.

Just an update to our original post... Our concerns over the tension on the front straps due to the tent being 3" or so off the floor were justifed... unfortunately on a weekend away in Keswick one of the front straps tore away from the tent at the stitching and the stitching on the other front strap was also starting to come away... This is not acceptable on a tent of this price!!!

After insisting on a full refund due to loss of confidence in the tent we have since bought a Hypercamp Eldorado which appears to be a great quality product at an outstanding price...
