Dave - last time I got this tent out (few weeks back when we had that heatwave for a week or so), I determined to try different ways of pitching. I tried pulling the corners out further and pushing them in narrowerer, pushing them back towards the middle pole and stretching them forward. No result made me totally satisfied, but glad you got an answer from the horses's mouth as it has made me feel better. I guess we have to assume such a good name as OASE knows what its doing.

Its the best tent I've ever owned in terms of materials, stitching, etc. and its very solid .... but I'm still going to get a fretsaw and nip a bit off the pole ends!

Hi. I bought the same discounted tent online a few weeks back, haven't had chance to camp yet.
A friend of mine bought the 2012 Cabin (Hydrotex) 300 today so hopefully we will be able to compare how the front ends 'sit' this weekend.
One other thing- the hubs (black plastic things) for the large poles look the same as the 2012 version. In pics of the 2011 model the hub is an alloy 'ring' the same as the dac pole hubs on my Big Agnes String Ridge 2 mountain tent. Only noticeable difference.

Cakeypig, will be interested to hear how your friend gets on (I too have the Cabin 300).

Black plastic hubs - mine is the 2011 model and has the black plastic hubs.  As you say, the videos show an ally ring, and I wonder whether the tent they show is a pre-production model, or it might be the 2010?

Hello again, just back from Thornthwaite near Keswick and pleased to say that my friend is very happy with his Cabin 300. There is a small lift at the front as anticipated but nothing to be concerned about. He was more worried about the fact the door doesn't zip at the bottom, creating a potential draught. After trying, and failing, to use velcro strips this was easily solved by lifting the groundsheet doorflap by the attached stakeloops and hooking each one to the nearest hanging point loop inside the doorway.
It was too cold at the weekend for my little one so I ended up taking my cosy mountain tent, will try the Vista at the next earliest opportunity.

Cabin 500 (2010 model) owner here, just to say that we have also noticed that the tent can lie high at the front when pitched. However, I've never really thought it is a problem - it usually just needs some tweaking of the poles and re-pegging to get it to sit nice and flat.

Slightly annoying because otherwise it pitches like a dream in about 5 minutes so its a bit of a shame that it needs some love to get it to sit right.

Other than that, as others have said, it's a fabulous well made tent. So good in fact that we're going to sell our Bear Lake!

Yes I'd agree with BlueC.  Its without doubt an extremely well made tent, and I can pitch mine in minutes and I'm only 5'3".  I do like the tent and it will probably last me a good few years as a second tent.  I still have my very old Campus Borneo 4 which is the love of my life tent-wise.  I've told the Cabin 300 it has a lot to live up to!

I'll be getting the Cabin 300 out a couple of weekends this season so will play about with it on site.

Hi guys,
just pitched my "new" Robens Vista 300, 2011 and have exactly the same problem with groundsheet. It is from 50 to 100 mm off ground. We tried erected that tent with use few different ways f.e. tried do not strech groundsheet too much, but all we could do was just minimize the gap up to 50 mm. Most helpful was the detaching of the middle, highest-placed plastic hook from front pole but that is not proper way to solve that problem. I think using this rising groundsheet is likely to damage it veery quickly because of the strong stress on it. Probably, trimming the front pole would help but I am not sure that is right.
I strongly agree that tent is made very well with use good quality material but problem with that groudsheet is not acceptable :(
__________
Just send an email to the seller about the problem with a tent and waiting for response.

"The front on all of the Vista and Cabin tents lifts off the ground when the front is pegged with too much tension between the front poles. You simply have to move the front poles some cm inwards watching the floor of the tent until it lies flat on the ground in the middle".

I tried tis way but it was not help. When I moved front poles inward, the floor rose even higher cos the pole in the middle, highest point has raised and pulled up the floor.

Just an update to our original post... Our concerns over the tension on the front straps due to the tent being 3" or so off the floor were justifed... unfortunately on a weekend away in Keswick one of the front straps tore away from the tent at the stitching and the stitching on the other front strap was also starting to come away... This is not acceptable on a tent of this price!!!

After insisting on a full refund due to loss of confidence in the tent we have since bought a Hypercamp Eldorado which appears to be a great quality product at an outstanding price...
