Everyone likes different things, and some loathe what others swear by !

We bought a double airbed in 2011 and still use it with a duvet!

Of course we tried campbeds , in fact the ones used in the forces .. and at 6 foot 3 found waking up with the side bar digging into my leg was not workable ! Give me the nice big airbed everytime and the EHU to use its inflating pump that also reverses to suck all the air out for packing.

The EHU means you can have a low power blow heater which takes the cold and the damp off everything, and we have a Kampa Sabre LED light hanging in the tent. It is 1m long and has 150 leds, runs off a 12v transformer and is FANTASIC ! We read , play scrabble and the light is amazingly bright yet 100% cool. As for the food storage , we bought an electric fridge that might be slightly over budget.

To me , other than the bed, light and heat the "getting stuff off the floor " process is one that makes life better , so a decent table and cooking stand mean you dont have to bend down for everything you want to do ,

I haven't yet and don't ever intend to  - half the fun of camping is deciding how you can improve on what you've got!!!
