Thanks, I can't tell you why but I really like it too
I did the same with the front pole, attached two guys because the wind had picked up but should have thought to have done the rear pole.

For a two man tent I can't get over the internal size being so generous considering that with modern tents you need a three berth when buying for two.

Any idea of its width, to compare with a modern tent?

That's one of the nicest tents I've ever seen.  Its just so perfect.  I don't mind the dark interior, its great for sleeping (and afternoon snoozes)!

Thanks for the pics, enjoyed that!

We also have a little Vango Alpha 200, 205 x 120, not sure of the exact size of the wren but at a guess I would say it's about 30cm longer over all without the extended fly and our double air bed is 191 x 137, plus the mud walls on the wren are around 20cm high but in the Vango they slope straight up from the ground.

Beautiful tent, well done on the find.
The dark green colour is ideal for sleeping, which is what you want from a tent really isn't it ... somewhere to sleep. Spend the day out & about and return to your snug, green 'home' to relax.
Might it be a forerunner to the Vango Force 10?

Enjoy the Canvas

With any luck we might be getting hold of an aluminium outer frame for the tent, from a force 10, it will be interesting to see if it fits.

Sorry, I'm not quite with you. Do you mean you're getting two A frames and a ridge pole to replace vertical poles or something?

Hi, I have one of these tents looking for a good home. It doesn't have the extension but otherwise the same as Paul and Wendy's. Free to anybody who can collect from Sheffield.

I can concur that it's a wonderful tent, mine is an old friend since I bought it in 1978 in the Blacks Shop in Edgbaston, Birmingham. It has seen plenty of use but is still sound. I prefer it to modern tents but these days I do either caravanning or lightweight cycle-camping so I'd like it to go to somebody who will cherish it.

Although it's a Black's product the design predates the merger of Black and Edgington so strictly it is a Benjamin Edgington Wren. It's real bulletproof quality (went through Hurricane Charlie with no problems) and much better made than comparable Vangos. I think there was an A-Frame available for it but that might be my memory playing tricks, really the internal poles are no problem. Also it's nice and dark for sleeping but the inner tent on mine is a cheery buttercup yellow so it feels lighter. All cotton of course.

We used to take an airbed and proper bedding (duvet pillows etc) and cook breakfast in bed on a little two burner stove in the entrance. Pure luxury and rather sad to see other campers struggling with wind and rain while we took our ease. I'd better stop before I persuade myself to keep it!

Incidentally I also bought a good sized heavy duty non-stick Aluminium billy set from Blacks on the same day and we are still using it in our caravan, it's been in use every year since 1978 and still better than anything I've seen on sale since. I just wish I still had the stove I bought at the same time but I think it was lost or stolen.

Best wishes from Sheffield
Chris

Have to say Chris that anyone that takes this tent off of you will have a brilliant tent, I can't wait to get away in ours again this year, these tents give you a real sense of security when your all tucked up safe and sound.

Hmm, I'm beginning to wonder if I shouldn't keep it, It has been a "guest bedroom" when we were in our VW camper so I guess it might serve the same function for the Eriba.

I hanker after using it myself but my other half is creakier than me so the Eriba gets the vote.

We have got a caravan as well as 4 other nylon tents and I can't bear to part with any of it but I must admit that when it comes to being in the wren it really does feel like proper camping, you just cant beat it

Hi Chris,

I'd like to give the tent a good home, if it's still available? I'm some way from you, but will come to collect.

Will you please post your email address (then edit the post to delete it again, very quickly)?

Thanks
