They are normally used for dog tethering, but I find that they work great as pegs, they have to go into the ground aligned with the guy rope (not in an angle) to work right, and they are so easy to get into the ground and pulled out again - without a mallet. They have kept my big Karsten tent in place in very strong wind and did not move a millimetre. And they are cheaper then Delta pegs...

I bought 4 trampoline fixing kits a few years back on sale for 10p each, think I got lucky at that price. This was before our camping began as was intended for our trampoline and any friends that had one but only got round to giving one set to the inlaws so still have 3 sets left that look like they will work a treat  Just need to find a use for the straps now.

Its very difficult to recommend one particular tent to be honest, as there are so many. If I were you i'd stick to alloy/steel poled tents, as in my experience fibre glass poles flex a lot more and the tent ends up in all shapes. I have a Gelert Meridian in the loft, and once stayed on the cliff tops in Filey. The wind was strong, and whilst the tent survived, it didn't fill me with confidence, the tent blew and flexed all over the place. The next tent I bought was Outwell Wolf Lake, and that was superb in wind, it barely moved.

Have you seen the Outwell Montana wind test on Youtube. There are one or two flaws with the test as the tent looks like its screwed to wood, and it doesn't take into account gusts, which are what generally cause the damage. Even so, its worth a watch.........

saw a big outwell cope with some outragous weather last year at shell, very impressive for such a big tent..

dont know what model it was as i cant remember but it was green and poly cotton.

I like to go and see tents on windy days to see how they stand up to the wind, when looking at tent displays.

Wire pegs shouldn't spin around in the wind, as the hook end should be embedded into the ground anyway, keeping them steadfast.    (As someone suggested)

We went tent shopping in the wind.  It quickly convinced Mr Joopy to spend more on the Bear Lake as aopposed to the polyester tents.  A lot of that was down to noise levels, but the horizontal bracing support makes the whole thing rock solid in a storm.  I'm not sure it addresses your particular problem, but there are pegs on the zip in groundsheet and on the canvas of the tent a few inches higher so it meets your needs there.
