Response from Gelert - is this acceptable???
Gelert ltd, Outdoors since 1975
Hi Nic, I am sorry to hear of your poor experience with one of our tents. It is important that before use of any new tent that the tent is fully weathered and waterproofed. I suggest that you use seam sealer from any outdoor store and waterproof your seams. Once this is done, it will be fine. Please ensure your tent is completely dry before packing it away. If it came with a missing ring, I would suggest returning it to Very for an exchange or a refund. Hope this helps, The Gelert Team.
You don't 'weather and waterproof' a new synthetic tent! Send it back for a refund while you can!
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes

We purchased a new Horizon 8 in July from Very and have used it a couple of times. This last week was the first time it had rained on it and it leaked at most of the seams. Very will give us a refund but cannot exchange as have no more tents of this kind.
The problem is we have brought a porch and footprint from different places so cannot return these as nothing wrong with them and now used.
Gelert cannot replace as they have none left either. We only paid £219 and if we get a refund cannot find another one for a similar price. Also is it likely to leak again???
Do we seal the seams ourselves - will this solve it?? Do we return the tent and sell the accessories and start again? Gelert just kept saying there was nothing they could do and we should get some seam sealer?
Please help, new family of campers and very confused - do we need to try a different make?
Nic, the same thing happened to me, although I bought the horizon 8 on sale from Littlewoods. It leaked terrible. I was able to put it up in the garden and sat into it to watch what happened during a heavy who
Wee. It leaked through seams, mainly where there was an attachment on the outside. Not just drips, puddles. This is not condensation. I needed a tent and littlewoods were happy to refund but couldn't replace and had nothing else in this price range. gelert were useless and also suggested I seal it myself.. They didn't even respond to my emails, I had to phone. Can't believe they don't care about their reputation. In the end (probably regretfully) I did seal the seams, 3 packets of seal sealant later I had to pack it away in Autumn so time will tell. I'm going to check it again first signs of spring and I hope I won't regret not retuning it. Interested to know if you returned yours. S.
