Thanks for info regarding time to put the tent up. What do you think about ventilation in this tent? Since we are thinking of camping in quite warm (summer) regions we need a tent with really good ventilation. On the other hand we also need a tent that can cope with the swedish summer weather (quite like in UK I guess...).

Since my wife is from the Balkan area we have been there before but not camping. It takes us about 24 hours of driving from south of Sweden. Travelling there has so far been a question of transportation not vacation why I can't give you any hints regarding nice places to stop onroute. We just take the car and drive.

Hi, since it's a cotton tent, the fabric itself is breathable. It doesn't need the large ventilation windows and vents of all plastic (polyester) tents.

Having said that, it does have a couple of low level vents and the front panel windows is half mesh which would help if the outer covering is rolled up.

We found it good on hot days, but if it is very hot, no wind and sitting in direct sun, the tent will get very hot. No tent won't.

I'm thinking of getting a tarp to provide shade for outside the tent on hot days. Someone wrote that putting a shade over the entire tent is not unknown in France.

I bought this tent specifically for hot weather and so far it has been good. Hopefully we will also be on holiday in Croatia with our tent this summer. I'll let you know how it goes!

Hi everyone

I'm really tempted by the palamos 6.

Can any owner tell me what happens to the ZIG when the front door section is moved all the way forward? Is there like a gap halfway along inside? Do you get a second groundsheet for the porch section?

Hi, when the front door is back, it zips onto the ZIG at the bottom. Have a look at this picture. You can see the slightly lighter brown ZIG being covered by the supplied second porch groundsheet.
When you move the door forward, you unzip it from the ZIG and unclip the ZIG at the sides. The ZIG then lies down flat and is partially covered by the porch groundsheet. So no, there is no gap. HTH.

I am assuming when fully zigged up the tent is free from drafts? What about drafts when using the door in the front position?

This really sounds like it could be our new family tent (2 adults 2 kids)

Yes, the tent's free from drafts when fully zipped up. We didn't notice drafts either during a storm when the door was in the front position... But I do remember that at the sides, where the ZIG folds down to lie flat, there were two small gaps, that might let a draft in. It could be that I just didn't fold the mud flaps correctly!

I'd heartily recommend this tent for a family. We've got three kids, 8,6,3 and they loved it. But we've not tried to live in it for a whole rainy week.

What's wrong with the dome that makes you look for something else?

The Kyham is a good tent that has looked after us for quite a few years. However I seem to have a bout of changeoftentitis! The one thing I think we would like is a SIG or ZIG as we experienced some really bad weather last year and spend a lot of time in the middle section of the tent which can be quite cold and draughty.
Was really looking for a quick erect family tent for shorter weekends away but got sidetracked a bit.
We have also looked at the Hi Gear Voyager 6 that looks like it would suite our needs and would be impossible to resist if they have a half price sale.
I am tempted by canvas because I know how stable it is in the wind. The only thing is the bulk / weight but we have a trailer.
