Hmmmm - I'll reserve judgement about that till I see one in the flesh. I've never liked the look of Quechua tents, tbh I think they are downright ugly, especially those square things that look like big laundry baskets. I've only been in our local Decathlon twice and wasn't impressed with either their range of camping stuff or their tent display, however I'll be parking near there when I go to work later so I'll go and have a look.
Well I've just been to Decathlon and to say I'm not impressed is an understatement. It was a complete waste of time, not one single tent on display anywhere, not even inside - I wouldn't consider buying anything unless I could see it first so the Quechua suggestion is out. It's a good job I park near there for work, if I'd gone specially I would be seriously p'd off - needless to say, this has just reinforced my opinion of how crap Decathlon is for camping stuff, and I will never ever go in there again.

Well thanks for all the suggestions everyone - after much research, measuring and tramping round camping shops, this morning I finally decided on and bought a Vango Midas 400. I did post the circumstances on another thread so here you go -
Well, I've taken the plunge and got one! Through a very odd set of circumstances too.
I went to Castlecroft yesterday, looked at their upstairs tent display then wrote down some details of another make and model which could have gone on the shortlist. It was hours later that I realised I'd lost a £20 note somewhere while I was out, and thinking back it could only have been while I was in Castlecroft. Not holding out much hope I rang them on the off-chance and luckily one of the staff had found it and put it to one side in case it was claimed, so first thing this morning I went back to pick it up.
Chatting to the staff member I mentioned what I was looking for and it turned out they had just one in blue in the store room, with the 600 model on display upstairs - I hadn't even noticed that one yesterday as it's green and I was looking for blue. So out came the tape measure and I went back upstairs to take a look - it ticked all the boxes and had some extras I wouldn't have even thought of, so on the basis of the 400 being exactly the same as the 600 but a bit smaller I said I would have it. I left a deposit, came back home for the cash and went back to collect it - so now I can't wait for a suitable weekend to test pitch and use it

Losing the money certainly did prove to be lucky. If it had only been a fiver I wouldn't have even bothered ringing Castlecroft as it would have cost me that much in fuel to go back there and collect it, but twenty quid is a different matter.
The new tent is now stored with all my other camping stuff, I'm using the awning when I'm away at Easter but the next convenient weekend after that will be 'new tent weekend'

Ha ha! I know exactly what happened - I had the details of my shortlisted tents written on a sheet of A4 paper folded into four, which I put in my inside jacket pocket along with the £20 note and some change, and the only time I took that paper out was while I was standing at the bottom of the stairs in Castlecroft. The note must have been stuck in the folds of the paper and dropped unnoticed, as that's where it was found. It would have been very hard for the sales assistant to pick my pocket unless he wanted to be accused of groping!
