Hi katedow, we toyed with the idea for a while too. In the end we decided that as the UK weather is not always perfect  , it would be nice to have a larger sheltered area to cook or just sit under, than the side porch gives. It increases the space in the tent as well, as you can keep a table, cooker, etc out there. 
The quality is as good as the rest of the tent, fairly simple to put up. Go on, you know you want to...
