You will now need the net curtains...can't have windows to spy out of without being able to hide behind net curtains.

Cheers Wendy! The video is really clear and makes it look so simple, even with curved edges. So tempted to try making windows in different shapes now!

The only question I would have is whether the stitching will let in any water, but I haven't had much problem with the stitching I did when I installed the flashing kit for my Frontier stove flue. Did you use the thread they recommended?

I think I'll experiment on my 4m bell first as it's had holes cut in it already and is old and smokey. Then maybe I'll think about windows in the 5m.

Hi Sarah...I used a polyester thread as the the one I ordered didnt match as well..got it from dunhelm and it matches or karma tent so well..he did say it was ok to use other thread on the video...The basting tape goes under the stitching and is claimed to be waterproof..it sticks realy well..so that should stop any worries of the stitching leaking..good luck if you do it..I found a square to be easiest so stuck to square..but you could do diffrent if your brave enough.

Like all skilled persons he makes it look so easy...I'm not so sure I would have the confidence to do it..If you watch a signwriter they too may it look so easy, so much so I had a bash myself and made such a mess. Before you ruin your tent I suggest you have a trial run with some material you can afford to lose.

I wouldn't try it either, and did not suggest anyone try it. If it hadn't worked or the windows leak or something else happens then that was the price we were prepared to pay. All I can tell you is GW has used that sewing machine about a dozen times in the ten years she`s had it so as far as I`m concerned she did a great job, even if I was checking the price of a new 5metre Bell tent while she was doing it. Yes, that's why I hope to try it on my oldest, tattiest tent first, which I've already chopped holes in, so I'm not quite as concerned.

GW is brave to experiment with a newer tent.

If I can do it anyone can do it..was as easy as it looks on the video..and the great thing about it you dont have to cut the canvas until your window is sewn on and your happy with it..once I was happy out came the scissors.

Looks a professional job and should let a good amount of light in. Look forward to the pics to see it in action..

The one thing that put me off Bell tents was the lack of windows which you have obviously resolved and something i never thought about doing. Great job GW, multi talented lady, interior design and now exterior improvements, excellent.
