I too prefer to have mesh door/panel on doors, windows and vents to minimise the issue of small flying insects from entering the tent.

Our first tent was a Eurohike without a sewn in ground sheet and we noticed all sorts of creepy crawlies coming in! Safe to say that tent only lasted for 1 trip!

Must admit our Kampa Croyde 6 did have a seam that leaked but it was easily fixed with a bit of seam sealant and Kampa were excellent in the way their customer service treated us! I understand Outwell customer service leaves a bit to be desired at times!

All manufacturers have problems occasionally, I think Outwell had a bit of a torrid time with leaking seams not so long a ago. Even the best companies cannot check every single tent, it's the way they deal with customers and the problems afterwards that counts.

I agree, (touch wood) we haven't had any problems with our Coleman so far, but all tents may eventually have issues. It's not the issue that become annoying it's the companies customers service or lack of which becomes a problem.

I think we will go for the Kampa Hayling 4 and I'll just have to prepare myself for the odd fly/moth!

It only arrived yesterday so not had a chance to pitch as yet. Hopefully there are no problems with the seams. We saw Kampa's a few years ago and they looked great quality. Unfortunately there are no camping shops or shows that have tents pitched anywhere near us so we can never see any in the flesh and just have to make judgement from websites and reviews.

We didn't go for the air, not sure I totally like them.

The airbeam we have just bought has mesh on both side and front doors..one of the main reasons we chose it..nothing worse than flys buzzing round your head..the thought of a tent with no mesh on front door is a definate put off for us..keeps out those long legged monsters too...the ones with wings I mean..

Just a thought, but wouldn't it be cheap and easy enough to knock together a mesh door using self adhesive magnetic strip and net fabric?

my Outwell tent has a seperate mesh door behind the main front door. means you can tie back the main door and have a large mesh screen. or roll the mesh screen back out of the way and never use it…. decisions decisions! campsite I've just been on didn't give reason to use the mesh, but who knows what the next site will bring. better to have and not use than need and not have.
