Blimey, not many supporters of the Ford!! We hired a Focus Estate in Spain last year, and I thought the steering was a bit vague on it, even though all the reports you read say how good the handling is.

I also had a Zafira for a couple of days which was hired by work. When I got out on the road, I was very impressed with it, great to drive, good all round visibility. If I was looking for something in that size market, it would be on my shortlist aswell.

Would also like to add my name to the Zafira fan club!

We have a 1.6 Zafira and its a joy to drive, the seat position helps my back problems and I felt less tired driving the Zafira to Cornwall than previous cars. The height of it also makes getting small children in & out of their car seats much easier - and kinder to your back!

We tow a trailer as well and though I was initially very nervous about this, you hardly noticed the trailer was there. We have the Vauxhall dog guard which is useful even when the dogs arn't with us - stops children climbing into the back and stops the luggage collapsing onto the children! Loads of room in this car for camping gear.

Ok have to join the Zafira Fan Club. Going down to Trevornick in it earlier this year everything including the kids fitted in it easily.  Got the 1.8 and no fuel consumption problems.  With me being 6'5" I have a great driving view and with wifey at 5'2" she has one too!

After reading several posts on here we have just bought a Zafira mainly for camping. We have got the 2.2 Comfort in Midnight black with privacy glass. We look like the A Team. We can't pick it up till next Tuesday and we go away on Sat for the first time camping so I hope it will be ok. We just loved the boot space.

2.0 diesel Zaf here.  Bought it especially for camping with own gear in this country and trips to France.   I have found the seat arrangement very useful - ideal for camping, going to the tip, collecting large items, extra kids on the Cubs pickup run.  Good fuel economy too.   Another good point is that a lot of the internal features are fairly basic but well made so less to go wrong or break.

Had mine 2.5 years and, touching formica covered computer desk, have not had a single problem with it.

We have a Zafira too, 2001 1.6 club. Great family car, ours has had a few irritating faults recently though, horn stopped working, rear door lock jammed, clutch fluid leaked out. It is on a yellow card, but if we sell it I'd still get another one. There is nothing that does what it can do for the money.

Sliding bench is great too, we have little kids (don't need much leg room) so we slide the bench forward which makes the big boot absolutely huge.

re Dog Guards, those of you that use them, do you use the Vauxhall one £90!!! or does the £30 Halfords alternative work just aswell?

Thanks

We also had the Zafira / Touran conundrum.  Settled for the Touran in the end (2.0 litre diesel (140bhp)) had a Zafira about 5 years ago and it broke down once to often for us.  We can get about 45 mpg fully loaded + roofbox.

However, Vauxhall have just launched the "new" Zafira and I see that you can pick up a basic "old" version for about half what we paid for the Touran.  I would chose the Touran everytime, but thats just a personal opinion

We have a Citroen Picasso it fits our 3 in easy, with reclining, folding and removable seats, the boot is enormous, and has lots of storage cubby holes, we've always found it reliable, and I tend to get about 34mpg around town, unfortunatley we have just bought a caravan so we are going to have get rid to buy something a little heavier. Not Zafira or Focus but we have always found it reliable and roomy
