We have SV8 and think it is great - we cook in the porch area and put a table with the cooker under a window and cook with the window open. Still trying to find the ideal layout for all our stuff. Bags of space. The other weekend we family staying with us - we were 8 altogether - and we didn't feel overcrowded.

Hi I am a total novice at camping and just bought a sun Valley 8 tent.  Does it come with tent pegs or do I have to buy them?

I've just got the SV8, and so pleased to see the positive comments above. Roll on Bank Holiday to try it out.

PS Anyone thinking of buying one, we got ours for £300 from Go Oudoors, which I think is the cheapest around, but do check the porch zip before going off on a trip with it, as there are still some out there with problems.

Thanks for that - my husband thinks i'm mad for even asking!  Having asked he then decided he was going to look anyway - yes there are.  Mind you taking three kids away for a couple of nights and not having them would have been a disaster!  Unfortunately our garden too small to try and check tent properly before we go so hopefully no problems.

I've no idea on the |Sun Valley 8, but the Vango Aspen 700 is excellent, I would say the top end of the market and if you want bags of space inside the tent you can't beat it! Yes, it takes around an hour to put up, but I have used it in gales and storms with no problem, the sewn in groundsheet keeps most of the draughts away and the porch is excellent for cooking in, even with a camping kitchen unit. The tent feels like it will last many seasons.

just had our first two weeks in our vango aspen 700, pure luxury, the double skin certainly makes all the difference. the porch is not part of the sig so muddy shoes can be kept off the inside. as for cooking in the tent, i personally would not like the grease and smells permeating my very expensive tent and prefer to cook in a utility tent. the only downside to this lovely tent is the size and weight of it when packed away.

I'm pleased with my Aspen 700 I prefer the shape 'yurt' to a tunnel. But it probably weighs more than a tunnel tent.

Don't think you'll go far wrong with either (though perhaps pitch size may be more expensive with the tunnel?)

Also I'd get the 700DLX as the Porch is bigger

lets us know what you get
