Hi Kidsmadhouse

What about the Vango Venture 500 (see link on previous page) - the main sleeping area splits into two with a curtain and there is someone on here who sleeps their two kids (younger than yours though) in one side and the parents in the other side.  It wouldn't provide you with masses of room but it's a great all round tent that is very quick to put up (3 poles), good head height.   Weighs around 10kg I think and doesn't take up masses of room in the car.

Hi Piglet

Many thanks for this. Have looked up the Vango Venture 500 and it looks great - especially like the partial fitted ground sheet.

Will be out and about this weekend to see if I can get a look at it in the flesh.

I will also be looking at the Coleman Bispace.

In addition have decided to take (for those one night stops a small dome tent for 3 like) the Vango Delta 300 or 300+ or the Suncamp Gemini just to make things easy.

Many thanks for your help

Kidsmadhouse

Remember Ebay...no, not for a used tent, but many online dealers clear surplus discontinued stock via Ebay. I got my last two tents from Ebay, 50% off from well known suppliers.

I am a single mum with a 12 year old. I have camped all my life and take my daughter with me. I also often take one of her friends as well so that she has some  company. I have recently managed to persuade one of her friends mum's who is also a single mum to try camping as well. She thoroughly enjoyed it and intends to come again. I also recommend the rallies on this site the people are great and I felt really welcome. my daughter made some new friends and so did Il. There is also plenty of help if there are problem with the car etc. eg. when my daughter locked my keys in the car there were loads of people offering to help. Above all remember to relax and enjoy.

I also agree with what moonseeker says I bought asda's smart price cutlery for £2.97 to go camping and last summer they had a picnic set for the same price can't go wrong really. Lidl are pretty good for cheap stoves and things as well, have a look on ther web site in the next couple of months.

I would decide if you want a sewn in groundsheet or if you are not too fussed..

of course you want a tent that you know you can manage to get up yourself but all the camping I have experienced there is always a helping hand nearby, no strings attached(its better to peg)

happy camping.

Another vote here for the Vango Venture ,we have the 600DLX for when I take the kids camping on my own ,hubby can fit at a squash for the odd weekend ,it would be a perfect size for 3 ,it is a lot bigger and a lot higer than it looks in any of the pics on the net ,there is easily room to stand up in it and room for table, chaires and all the junk you will in the living area!

Hi Foggers , the Wynster Mallard 4, looking at the info it says integral groundsheet.  Does that mean sewn in groundsheet please ?  PamJ
