I just don't understand why, when someone asks about Rage tents, folk start beefing on about Stormproof USA tents.
If I ask - Are Heinz baked beans any good? Will folk start complaining about Crosse & Blackwell beans being no good, just because they were from the same retailer but purchased last year and the retailer doesn't even do Crosse & Blackwell any more?
I bought a Rage tent a few weeks ago, so far it has been ok but not slept in it. Am not expecting a lot at the price I paid. Will report back in due course.
Must admit I agree that lack of pitching skills may be to blame in some cases where the tents fail to survive their first outing.

So when a guyrope is attached by a narrow band of material onto the tent, its my fault that it snaps off is it? Is it also my fault that the velcro patches for closing the window didn't even match up and the windows leaked? Is it also my fault that there was a stitching line which rucked up the material and stopped from getting the tent 'lined up' my fault too? Give me a break please, I may be inexperienced but please, common sense prevails. It may not have been pitched 'perfectly' but we did a damn good job of it

Whooooooo! Touchy, touchy.
Nobody is saying that in your case that it was your fault. From your description it is obvious that you had a flawed tent from the start, something which has already been acknowledged as being a problem. However, not everybody has had problems of material breaking off. Some problems have described poles twisting and the whole of one end falling in on the occupants amongst other horror stories. That to me suggests bad pitching, particularly pegging out of guyropes. I've seen it happen with "good" tents when the wind has got up and the tent has been thrown up in a hurry and I would venture to suggest that this will be the case with some reports of collapsing tents on here.
It isn't a crime or something to be ashamed of if someone pitches a tent badly and it falls down. We were all learners at one time.
I agree f1farrari0, my rage tent came with the wrong poles, they sent me instructions for a 5 man tent when I had a 7 man, the elastic in one of the fibre poles snapped before I even mangaged to get it in the tent, my pole sleeves were ripped. Some of the other problems we had such as the steel poles being bent in the wrong places and snapping may have been our fault but from the overall quality of the tent I very much doubt it. We never even managed to get our tent fully pitched.
I think some people get good tents some get bad from tentastic, just the luck of the draw. Even so when you are spending over £100 you still expect to get something of a quality that is usable.
I bough a leben from them for £36, and I cannot fault it at all.

All i can say is my rage tent is ace, i love it! I know some people have had problems with them but then some people have had problems with outwells and vangos too and they paid a hell of a lot more than I did!!
If I had paid £400 for a tent, and pitched up next to a pretty impressive tent, which on further discussion turned out to have cost £75, I might feel that that theirs was obviously inferior too....
It must be said, although I pride myself on my tent erection skills, I also pride myself on my in built sense of direction. I still don't understand why my wife bought me that sat nav ....
